Three to six jobs a van, each one a long setup and a hose run from the curb. Get them in the right order and the van spends the day cleaning, not crossing Columbus.

EZRoutePlanner for carpet cleaning
EZRoutePlanner is a carpet cleaning route planner: paste or import the day's jobs, give each truck-mount van its area on the map, and press Optimize Route to put that van's stops in the shortest order from the shop. Techs open their route from a link on the phone and tap Navigate at each house. Free covers 30 stops a route; paid plans from $20 a month add a route per van.
An example day
This example is 12 stops on real roads in Columbus, Ohio. In the order the list had them, the round trip is 47 mi and 2 hr 18 min of driving. Optimized, it's 24 mi and 1 hr 17 min: 23 mi and 1 hr 2 min less, 50% shorter.
A truck-mount van's day is a handful of long jobs, so the gain there is keeping each van on one side of town. Rug pickups and returns for in-plant cleaning are the opposite: a dozen ten-minute stops, which is where the order saves the most driving.
Stops are example points on real streets, not real customers. Distances and times are driving figures for each order.
Where the day goes
The van has to park within hose reach of the door, often a few hundred feet at most. Apartments, townhomes and narrow streets turn a short drive into a long setup.
Bookings come in all day, and whoever answers the phone decides which van gets the job. Without a map, both vans end up crossing each other on the outerbelt.
A customer who booked three rooms asks about the sofa and the stairs while the tech is there. The upsell is welcome, but the next customer on the route now waits.
Start from your list
Room counts, prices and notes stay in your booking software. EZRoutePlanner keeps the address and one label per job, and skips repeat customers it already has, so last year's annual cleans are already on the map when they call again.
Copy the addresses from your booking calendar and paste them one per line, or import the day's job export. Every job shows on the map.
Lasso the north-side jobs for Van 1 and the south-side jobs for Van 2. Each van's route gets its own color; splitting stops between drivers has more on dividing a list.
Press Optimize Route for each van. If a tech takes the van home overnight, save their home as a base and start the route there.
Share the link or QR code. The tech opens it in the phone's browser, sees the jobs in order and taps Navigate.

An example sheet. Columns can be named anything and in any order; street, city and ZIP can be one column or several. Pick one column, like the customer name, as each stop's label.
From the route
Third-floor units and homes deep inside a complex take longer to set up. Put them early in the day while there's slack: drag them up after optimizing.
For townhomes and apartments the address pin can land on the leasing office. Drag it to the building you're cleaning; the nearest address is found, and the tech pulls up within hose reach.
Big homes full of furniture are where sofa and rug add-ons happen. If one job is likely to grow, make it the last stop: turn off Round Trip and pin it last.
In-plant rug cleaning means pickups and returns, short stops that don't need the truck-mount. Run them from a smaller vehicle or on a slow day, as a route of their own.
Emergency extraction can't wait for tomorrow. Add it to the nearest van's route and move it up to be the next job; the van's link picks it up.
If techs swap vans, call the route "Van 2, Thursday" and send that link. Whoever drives it gets the right jobs; sending a route to a driver covers the options.
Honest fit
EZRoutePlanner is built for putting a day of stops in the right order and getting them to whoever drives. Here's where that fits carpet cleaners, and where you'd want something else alongside it.
Last reviewed October 21, 2026.
Most book by area when they can, then put each van's jobs in order the evening before. With three to six long jobs, keeping each van on one side of town matters more than the exact order. EZRoutePlanner shows the day's jobs on a map so you can split them by area and optimize each van.
Yes. Add the address to that van's route and drag the new job into place in the list. Because the tech's page reflects your edits, there's nothing to resend.
No. It orders stops by distance and has no way to hold a booked arrival slot (a time window). Keep arrival windows in your booking software and use the map to keep each van's jobs close together, which makes those windows easier to hit.
As many as you run. Paid plans have unlimited routes, so each van gets its own route and color, and every route holds up to 200 stops. The free plan has unlimited routes, kept one at a time, enough for a one-van business to try it.
Yes. Export a printable PDF with the jobs in order and the distance between them, with turn-by-turn directions if you want them. CSV and Excel exports are there too, for your records.
It's one of the best fits: a rug run is a dozen short stops across the city, exactly where ordering saves the most driving. Paste the pickup and return addresses, optimize, and drive.
Import your customer list, optimize the order with one click, and open it on your phone in the morning. Free to start, no credit card.
