Shipday vs EZRoutePlanner

Both have a free plan, but they're free in opposite ways: Shipday gives you dispatch and proof of delivery without optimization, and EZRoutePlanner the reverse.

The short answer

Shipday's free plan is better for running deliveries, and EZRoutePlanner's for optimizing routes. Shipday is free for up to 300 orders a month and 10 drivers, with a driver app, live tracking and photo and signature proof of delivery, but route optimization starts at $29 a month as of October 2026. EZRoutePlanner optimizes routes free for 30 saved addresses and is paid from $20 a month, with no tracking or proof of delivery. Restaurants taking orders through a POS should pick Shipday.

Choose Shipday if

  • orders arrive through Toast, Square, Shopify, DoorDash or another system you already use
  • you want proof of delivery and live driver tracking for free, up to 300 orders a month
  • customers expect to follow their delivery or get an ETA text
  • you deliver one or two orders per trip, so dispatch matters more than stop order

Choose EZRoutePlanner if

  • you need stops in the best order and don't want to pay $29 a month for it
  • your stops are regular customers or a list of addresses, not POS orders
  • drivers should open a link, with no account and nothing to install
  • you plan several routes a day on one map, then print or export them

Shipday's free plan vs EZRoutePlanner's free plan

This is the comparison most people searching "Shipday free" need. Both plans are free with no time limit, and they cover nearly opposite halves of a delivery day.

02

Can you use Shipday and EZRoutePlanner together?

Yes, and for some small businesses it's the cheapest setup available. Shipday Free keeps the delivery record: who delivered what, with a photo and a signature, and where the driver is now. EZRoutePlanner Free does the one thing Shipday Free leaves out, which is putting the stops in order.

It works best when the stops repeat. Take a bakery that delivers to 20 cafés three mornings a week, about 260 drops a month. The cafés go into EZRoutePlanner's Address Book once, and each morning's route is optimized and sent to the driver as a link. The same drops go into Shipday as orders, so the driver marks each one delivered with a photo. Shipday costs $0 and EZRoutePlanner $0 (Free).

The catch is double entry. The two tools don't talk to each other, so every stop lives in both, and the driver switches between a Shipday order list and an EZRoutePlanner route. Past a handful of stops a day, or once orders arrive through a POS, Shipday's Professional Lite plan ($29 a month) is the simpler answer, because it adds route optimization inside Shipday.

And if nobody needs a photo, a signature or a tracking link, you don't need Shipday for that job at all: EZRoutePlanner alone plans the routes and gets them to drivers.

Shipday vs EZRoutePlanner, feature by feature

Shipday is built around orders: they arrive, get dispatched to a driver and get delivered with proof. EZRoutePlanner is built around routes: a list of stops, put in order and handed to a driver.

04

How much does Shipday cost after the free plan?

As of October 2026, Shipday's paid plans start at $29 a month (Professional Lite), billed monthly for actual usage. Each paid plan includes a set number of orders, 300 on the cheaper plans, and charges for every extra one: $0.06 on Professional Lite, $0.10 on Professional and $0.20 on Branded Elite. EZRoutePlanner charges by saved addresses instead, with no fee per delivery.

Professional is $49 a month on shipday.com. Shipday's Shopify App Store listing still shows $39, and some older reviews quote $29 for Professional; the prices here come from Shipday's own pricing page. Shipday shows separate plan cards for merchants and for delivery companies, at the same prices.

05

Shipday counts orders; EZRoutePlanner counts addresses

Shipday's bill follows your order count. Every delivery is an order, so a customer you visit every week is about four orders a month, and on paid plans each order past the plan's included amount costs $0.06 to $0.25.

EZRoutePlanner's bill follows how many addresses you keep saved. That weekly customer is one saved address whether you visit once a month or every day, and optimizing, sharing and exports are unlimited. That's why regular routes (water, laundry, pet food, propane, wholesale accounts) tend to cost less on EZRoutePlanner, while one-off restaurant orders to new addresses fit Shipday's model.

The other difference is where stops come from. Shipday expects orders to arrive: from Toast, Square, Shopify, DoorDash and other integrations, from customer order forms, or through its API. EZRoutePlanner expects a list: paste addresses one per line, or import a CSV or Excel file and it finds the address columns, even when street, city and ZIP code are split.

What a month on Shipday costs, compared

Five businesses, worked out from Shipday's published per-order prices. Shipday's free plan wins outright for small order-based delivery, and EZRoutePlanner wins for routes that repeat.

Shipday: "from" prices as of October 2026, billed monthly, before any SMS charges (Shipday doesn't publish SMS rates). Professional Lite allows 15 driver accounts; Professional ($49, then $0.10 an order) has no driver cap. EZRoutePlanner: monthly prices, 25% off with billing every 6 months, set by the addresses you keep saved plus a fair-use allowance of new ones each month. For the courier we assume delivered addresses are cleared out weekly. Several routes at once need a paid EZRoutePlanner plan.

What Shipday does better, and what EZRoutePlanner does better

Where Shipday is stronger

  • A free plan that covers real delivery work: driver app, live tracking, customer ETA tracking and photo and signature proof of delivery for up to 300 orders a month.
  • Integrations with Toast, Square, Shopify, DoorDash, Uber and others on paid plans, so orders arrive without retyping.
  • SMS and WhatsApp customer notifications, auto-dispatch and driver pay calculation from $29 a month.
  • Optimization that, according to Shipday, accounts for time windows, traffic, vehicle capacity and driver shifts.
  • Third-party delivery services (DoorDash, Uber and others) to fall back on from Branded Elite.

Where EZRoutePlanner is stronger

  • Route optimization on the free plan: unlimited, up to 30 stops a route, where Shipday's free plan has none.
  • Priced by saved addresses, not orders, so a regular customer costs the same however often you visit.
  • Drivers open a link in any phone browser, with no account or app, and navigate in Google Maps, Apple Maps or Waze.
  • Paste a list or import a spreadsheet, then lasso stops into color-coded routes on one map.
  • Exports on every plan: Google Maps links of 10 stops, CSV or Excel, and a PDF route sheet.

08

The verdict: Shipday for orders, EZRoutePlanner for routes

If orders arrive through a POS or an online store and you need proof they were delivered, Shipday is the better tool, and its free plan is generous for a small restaurant. Expect to pay $29 a month once you want the stops put in order.

If your work is regular stops or a list of addresses, and nobody needs a signature, EZRoutePlanner gives you optimized routes for free or from $20 a month, without counting orders. Small, repeating routes can even run on both free plans at once.

Questions people ask about Shipday

Is Shipday really free?

Yes. Shipday's Basic plan is free forever for up to 300 orders a month, 10 driver accounts and 1 dispatcher. It includes the driver app, live driver tracking, live ETA tracking for customers and photo and signature proof of delivery. It doesn't include route optimization, which starts with Professional Lite at $29 a month as of October 2026.

Does Shipday's free plan optimize routes?

No. Route planning and optimization start with Professional Lite at $29 a month; the free Basic plan dispatches orders to drivers without putting them in order. Shipday also offers a separate free web tool for one route of up to 100 stops. EZRoutePlanner's free plan includes unlimited optimizing for routes of up to 30 stops.

How much is Shipday Professional?

$49 a month on Shipday's pricing page as of October 2026. That includes 300 orders, then $0.10 for each extra order, with unlimited driver accounts and API access. Shipday's Shopify App Store listing still shows $39, an older price. Professional Lite, at $29 a month, is the cheapest Shipday plan with route optimization.

What happens if I go over 300 orders on Shipday?

The free Basic plan allows up to 300 orders a month, so a busier month needs a paid plan. Paid plans include 300 orders too (750 on Business AI Lite) and then charge per extra order: $0.06 on Professional Lite, $0.10 on Professional, and $0.20 on Branded Elite and Business AI Lite. Shipday bills at the end of the month for actual usage.

How many drivers can I have on Shipday for free?

Ten. The free Basic plan allows 10 driver accounts and 1 dispatcher, and each driver uses the Shipday Drive app (4.7 on the App Store, 4.2 on Google Play). Professional Lite raises that to 15 drivers, and Professional and above have no driver cap. EZRoutePlanner doesn't count drivers: each route is shared as a link.

Does Shipday work with Toast, Square or Shopify?

Yes. Shipday lists integrations with Toast, Square, Shopify, Wix, Squarespace, Lightspeed, DoorDash, Uber and others, and says it has more than 100. Ready-to-use integrations are listed from Professional Lite ($29 a month), and API and webhook access from Professional ($49). EZRoutePlanner has no integrations; you paste or import addresses instead.

Is there a free alternative to Shipday with route optimization?

For routes, yes. EZRoutePlanner's free plan optimizes routes of up to 30 stops with one click, for up to 30 saved addresses, and sends each route to a driver as a link. It has no tracking or proof of delivery, so some small businesses use Shipday's free plan for the delivery record and EZRoutePlanner's for the stop order.

Does EZRoutePlanner replace Shipday?

Not for restaurants or other order-based delivery. EZRoutePlanner doesn't receive orders from a POS, track drivers, text customers or collect photos and signatures. It replaces Shipday only where all you used Shipday for was getting stops to drivers: it optimizes the routes and shares them as links that open in any phone browser.
